Currency Carrots
Carrot-WebCoins are issued in a range of currencies including an Intetnet currency (#INT), which is backed by the USD (USD1.00 equals INT10.00). INT-Carrots are intended for cross border applications such as e-mail where the preferred currency of the recipient may not be known in advance.
One other special currency is supported (symbol XXX). This currency is only used by Merchants for testing purposes, so ordinary users should never need to handle them. When Carrot-WebCoins are purchased they must be paid for in the same currency as they are denominated (i.e. GBP-WebCoins must be paid for in pounds). When making S.A.F.E payments with WebCoins (typically by clicking a BUY button), the payment processor may offer automatic currency conversion so you will be able to purchase products and services from all over the world without having to purchase WebCoins in each currency. However, if auto currency conversion is not supported by the payment processor (or your local currency has exchange restrictions), you may still be able to use #INT coins to make the payment. The list of supported currencies as of 15 March 2010:
